In most of the US, Daylight Saving Time (DST) begins on Sunday, March 10, at 2 AM local time. Set clocks ahead by 1 hour. UTC is the generally recognized “standard...

The K7RA Solar Update

ARRL Amateur Radio News - Fri, 03/08/2019 - 10:19

After no sunspots over the entire month of February, sunspot group 2734 appeared on March 5. So far, the new sunspot numbers are 14, 17, and 14 on March 5-7. I believe this was the longest consecutive period (33 days) with no sunspots on this declining side of Cycle 24. The polarity of the new sunspot group identifies it as being from Cycle 24, not the upcoming Cycle 25.

VHF Micor Mobiles FREE at #GREENCountryhamfest

ARRL Oklahoma - Wed, 03/06/2019 - 13:54
I have three 45-watt VHF Micor Mobiles that were in the ham band range when I bought them.
If anyone wants them, I will bring to the Green Country hamfest and they are yours, no charge. Otherwise, they go to the junk yard.
I would hope that if someone takes them, they are at least familiar with that series of radios since I will offer no support for them. It is hard enough to keep up with the new equipment without having to refresh my memory on something that I have not touched in 10 or more years.
If you want the packet frequency channel elements left in the radios I will do so. Otherwise, they will be removed and tossed in the junk.
